“Curriculum and Programme Support”

Why choose C.A.P.S

CAPS is proud to support more than 40 Nurseries and Playgroups across Northern Ireland including those in the Belfast, South Eastern and Southern Trusts. We provide training and support visits to help prepare staff for ETI and Social Services inspections.

  • A large proportion of our time is spent training.
  • We believe in researching and keeping up to date with current good practice.
  • By researching, we deliver effective training with the added value of training information and evidence materials that we provide to create an informative and relaxed and easy to understand environment.
  • All of our candidates are furnished with industry specific and relevant information that can be used in every day practice at their centre.
  • This all leads to a positive impact on staff, children and the day-to-day running of your centre.

Our Team

Janice Mawhinney

Janice-PicI have worked as an Independent Early Years Specialist since 2011 with my colleague under C.A.P.S. Curriculum and Programme Support. I also part manage Bees Nees Early Years Centre in Newtownards and this means that working on the ground keeps me in touch with everyday issues.

After completing a B.A.Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies at Stranmillis College Belfast in 2003 I decided to put my previous experience as playgroup leader to use by supporting and training staff working within Day Nurseries and Pre-school Playgroups.

Catherine Russell

Catherine-picI have worked as an Independent Early Years Specialist since 2011 as well as part managing an Early Years centre in Newtownards 2 days per week. I previously ran a playgroup and after school facility in my home town of Dromore Co Down for 12 years.
